I was eating the Kelloggs special K Breakfast Cereal this morning. I left it in milk too long before I was finally able to eat it and it smelt and tasted just like "Bonny Mix", the pudding in the tin, we used to get back in India around the early 1990s. I always will wonder why they stopped making it. Personally, I think it was a smash product, so tasty, my god! I used to remember Goldilocks whenever I ate it (Goldilocks eats the three bear's pudding, I eat Bonny mix pudding, get the connection?!, duh!)
So anyway, that triggered this post. I always maintained a list of things that I loved, which they stopped making in India. And whenever I crib to someone about how they stop making the best things, voila! I have a list ready to be read out. Here it is for the benefit of the world.
-Atari (I looooooooooooovvved this coconut-chocolate, they stopped making it around the time I was in my IV standard. Years and years later, I found similar (but definitely less) joy in eating "Almond Joy" )
-Fudgy (Loved both the chocolate and the He-Man stickers that came with it ;) They were pasted all over the walls and the fan regulator plates (come on, you know what I mean, those white plates on which sat a regulator, with which you could control the speed of the fan) in my home back in Hyd ;) One can find them even today @ our old place!! )
-Bonny Mix
-Bournvita biscuits ( Remote cousin to the chocolate chip cookie, this one is a chocolate cookie, used to taste sooo good...yumm! I miss it even now. Nothing comes close to it even today)
-Dollops Ice cream (Don't know if they make it yet, haven't seen it in a while)
That is my list. This is what I reel over and over again when I complain;) If you have any favourites that they stopped making, drop me a word:)

Recently I mentioned this to my cousins...and strangely only the younger of siblings seemed to hav a thing for Bonny Mix!
And then there was a rationalisation that Bonny Mix caused brain damage and 'coz we kids loved it most our brains are wat they are today!
We sort of had to agree. They had a very strong case.
pepsicola - the water-juice ice that used to come in plastic tubes.... used to get them in the school canteen :)
gold-spot - today's mirinda doesn't even come close!!!!
Oh I agree, totally loved fudgy...in fact i was googling "Fudgy", but no results came up....then i googled "Fudgy + he man sticker" and found one final link in remembrance of this wonderful tasting chocolate...really takes me to the good old 80's :)
I was in St. Ann's in the 70s and does anyone remmber Sr. Adriana the beautiful Italian nun who was principal for years and a great teacher. She looked after all the not so well off girls in the school and made sure they had an education so the cycle of poverty would stop with them. I am still in touch with her beautiful family in Italy whom I met through her.
God Rest her Beautiful Soul

Hi...my name is Jose. I would like to get in touch with M/S Helen Lazar who was a resident and was from Kothagudam area( Batch of 1963-64). If you have any information, please email me at joskabraham@yahoo.com
I visited St. Anne's after 38 years! And met Ms. Celine!! I could not believe it. On my return I checked out the school website when I came across this blog. I too was there in the early 1970s (like Karen Pinto)and Sr. Adriana was the principal. I remember her completely although I was very young at that time. St. Anne's has changed a lot and the grounds are gone, but it is still very much the same.

i remember sr.adriana like yesterday. the sweetest soul on earth.when we were in the singing class where the indoor stage was, she heard us singing the edelweise song from the sound of music and came out of her office to ask us if we knew what exactly we were singing about. then she showed us a fragile pressed flower that her family had sent her one time.karen you are so lucky to have had known her personally.
Hi everyone, I am looking for a Helen Lazer from Kothagudam area of AP. She was a student during 1967-68. If you have any info on her, please email me @ joskabraham @yahoo.com
Thank you
Jose
I too think of Sr Adriana so very often! What a wonderful human being. One time we older kids were playing while there were some younger kids playing closeby as well. One young girl had her shoe laces come untied and Sr A without saying a word, knelt on the ground and tied her shoelaces! What a powerful lesson she imparted by her action. I tell my family about it ...how can one forget her lkvely Italian accent! Thank you Sr Adriana! Neeraja
